Why do I need a Chiropractor and other frequently asked questions
What do Chiropractors do? Chiropractors diagnose, treat and prevent conditions of the musculoskeletal system. It is a practice based on manual therapy. Chiropractors deal with the mechanics of the body and improve muscle and joint function through manual therapy, spinal manipulation and exercise.
For what conditions would I see a Chiropractor? When you mention Chiropractic care one immediately thinks of neck and back pain. Chiropractors can and do help alleviate acute and chronic neck and back pain through a variety of techniques including spinal manipulation, electrical stimulation, heat, ice and specified exercises. In addition to conditions relating directly to the back, neck and spine, Chiropractors also treat conditions such as: Headaches Knee Pain Hip Pain Pain in the Extremities (Legs, Ankles, Feet, Shoulders, Arms, Wrists and Hands) Numbness in the Extremities Sciatica Arthritis Injuries incurred during sports or car accidents
What happens at the office? During your first office visit you will receive a comprehensive examination by the doctor. Depending on your area of concern the doctor will test your function, flexibility, motion and pain level in that area. Your Chiropractor will then diagnose your condition and formulate a treatment plan to best alleviate your distress. The length of your treatment plan will depend on the severity of your problem. There are no set courses of treatment. All treatment plans are customized to the individual. Treatment will last until you have regained optimal use, motion and function.
Will this be covered by insurance? Unfortunately your insurance coverage is almost as individual as your treatment plan. Many insurance companies cover Chiropractic Care, but to know the particulars of your insurance plan, give us a call and we’ll help you get that information.
